Naomi Frausto - Violin

Naomi Frausto Naomi Frausto began playing the violin at the age of 11. She grew up in El Paso, Texas and began performing with a local mariachi band at the age of 15. She continued playing with various mariachi groups over a fifteen-year period, including Mariachi Oro Del Sol. After graduating from high school, Naomi began studying classical violin with Laurence Gibson at the University of Texas at El Paso and received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.

In addition to being an accomplished mariachi violinist, Naomi has been a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Juarez Symphony Orchestra (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) and Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in the orchestras of such operas and musicals as The Barber of Seville, Pagliacci, Phantom and Fiddler on the Roof, where she performed on stage as the fiddler. In 2003, Naomi also performed in the orchestra accompanying Broadway stars Yvonne Elliman, Barry Dennen and Chuck Wagner for the stage performance of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Naomi is also an educator who has privately taught violin for over ten years. She taught middle school orchestra with the Socorro Independent School District in El Paso, Texas and has been a guest instructor with many of the region's string camps and mariachi conferences.

Naomi currently teaches privately and performs with Mariachi Tamazula and the Temple Symphony Orchestra.
